Rossi is now known as Fratelli Rossi Barasso, or FRB. Between the world wars, Rossi was finally promoted to be the biggest pipe factory in the world. Next to the domestic market in Italy, the United States was the most important client. The factory was systematically modernized and consequently extended.

Rossi pipes have been around for more than 100 years, and in fact, there was a time before WWII when they were the largest pipe maker in the world! Today, the Rossi brand has been reinvigorated by Savinelli and offers affordable pipes with unsurpassed quality in their price range.

The Rossi pipe brand was founded in Barasso, Lombardy, Italy, in 1886 by Ferdinando Rossi, an Italian tobacco goods reseller. Rossi was inspired to start his own pipe production company after visiting a supplier in Saint-Claude, France. The Fratelli Rossi Company, which Rossi founded, employed thousands of people, including artisans who specialized in specific tasks, such as finishing. The company’s production departments were so large that they were larger than some other Italian pipe factories. The finished pipes were stored in a warehouse that was the size of a department store.

Starting in the 1920s, Rossi pipes were marked with “FRB” (Fratelli Rossi Barasso) or “MFRB” (Manifattura Fratelli Rossi Barasso) in an oval located above “OLD BRIAR” (or similar – sometimes, there was also “MFD.. Rossi pipes are known for their quality and affordability. Some Rossi pipes include Rossi Piccolo 601 Sandblast Tobacco Pipe, Rossi Rubino Antico 606 Smooth Tobacco Pipe, Rossi Vittoria 811 Tobacco Pipe, Rossi Mezzanotte 8644 Rustic Tobacco Pipe, and Rossi Sera 8311 Tobacco Pipe.

Rossi pipes range from under $100 to over $200. Click here to see MBSDpipes.com’s Rossi pipes inventory.
