Zack Hamric Sandblasted Author w/ Fossilized Walrus Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked
Out of stock
Description
Originally trained as a woodworker, Nashville’s Zack Hamric took up pipe making as a hobbyist in the late 20th century. Like many an American artisan during that time, his output was largely Danish-influenced freehands. After a long hiatus, Hamric resumed his pipe making in the 2010s, ready to approach the craft as a professional. Hamric’s return was very well received, with his pipes becoming highly renowned within the booming American artisan scene.
I do so enjoy Zack Hamric’s author shapes. As with the morta one yesterday, this one is a fantastic mixture of the old and the new—and, again, in one sense quite literally. The shaping is distinctly modern and chubby, something found in a lot of Hamric’s work, which pairs beautifully with the pipe’s deep, ring grain sandblast. The pipe also features a hand cut camouflage ebonite stem—again, very modern. For an accent, however, Hamric has here used fossilized walrus bone, which looks great in itself, while also providing an elegant contrast to the darker hues worn by the rest of the pipe.
The pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. It comes with its original leather sleeve.
