Yiannos Kokkinos Partially Sandblasted Freehand Estate Briar Pipe, Other Estates
Out of stock
Description
There are few pipe makers as willing to push the boundaries of pipe design as Yiannos Kokkinos. He belongs to that rare class of artisans, joined by figures such as Roger Wallenstein, Manfred Hortig, and Werner Mummert, who continually experiments not only with novel shapes, but also finishes and color schemes. This freehand, for example, blends smooth and sandblasted sections—mixing straight grain and ring grain—along with two very different stains—a light brown and a naked hue—before topping it off with a marshy green ebonite stem—which somehow doesn’t look out of place at all. It’s quite a marvel, really, but if you know Kokkinos’ portfolio, along with his background in Fine Art, you’ll know that this is simply what he does—and boy, does he do it well.
The condition is great. Very minor inner rim darkening.
