Description

WO Larsen was a tobacconist in Copenhagen Denmark. In the 1960s, when Danish-style pipes were becoming highly sought after, thanks to revolutionary pipe-makers such as Sixten Ivarsson, a workshop was set up on the Larsen premises to produce enough high-grade Danish pipes to meet demand. This workshop was staffed by the emerging masters of Danish pipe-making, such as Sven and Teddy Knudsen, Hans ‘Former’ Nielsen, Jess Chonowitsch, Poul Ilsted, and Benni Jorgensen.

Before switching to factory-made briars, some of the last handmade pipes from WO Larsen came in the form of a series celebrating the tobacconist’s 130th anniversary. The design, as seen here, was a plump Danish brandy, which also featured a relatively rare adornment for WO Larsen pipes—a sterling silver collar. I suppose if you’re going for a special send-off, you might as well do it in style.

The condition is fair. Some rim darkening and a spot of char, and some finish fading.
