Vauen Trullerie Churchwarden Estate Briar Pipe, 9mm, German Estates

Out of stock

Description

Vauen stems from Germany’s oldest tobacco pipe manufacturing company, tracing its roots back to the founding partnership of Karl Ellenberger and Carl August Ziener in Nuremberg, 1848. Out of the Ellenberger-Ziener partnership soon came the Vauen make itself, which grew to become Germany’s largest and most enduring pipe brand – a title that it continues to hold to this day.

Truller, or more correctly Trüller, is German for triller, a group of birds that typically have long black feathers stretching from nape to tail. I’m guessing that the name of this pipe, “Trullerie,” from German make Vauen has something to do with that, based on its long black churchwarden stem. It’s not a line that’s in production anymore, as far as I can tell, but it will have been one of their higher end lines, due to the proprietary white dot, or weißer Punkt, on its stem.

The condition is very good. Some inner rim darkening. As with most Vauen pipes, this one is chambered for 9mm filters as standard, though it would likely accommodate an adapter of some variety if preferred.
