Vauen B453 Smooth Bent Dublin Estate Briar Pipe Unsmoked 9mm [SOLD OUT]
Out of stock
Description
Vauen stems from Germany’s oldest tobacco pipe manufacturing company, tracing its roots back to the founding partnership of Karl Ellenberger and Carl August Ziener in Nuremberg, 1848. Out of the Ellenberger-Ziener partnership soon came the Vauen make itself, which grew to become Germany’s largest and most enduring pipe brand – a title that it continues to hold to this day.
Vauen is less commonly known for its collaborations with famous designers than other makers, such as Stanwell, but the company has nonetheless partnered with quite a few very interesting individuals and companies. These include Oliver Brandt, Radice, Mastro de Paja, and, in the case of this one, Caesare Barontini. The resulting shape for this one is quite curious, given that it is a distinctly broad, quarter-bent Dublin that transitions seamlessly into a squared shank and acrylic mount. The patch of Italian-style pebble-dash rustication on the front of the bowl is an ingenious touch, as it provides an extra degree of grip for the user while smoking.
This Vauen is completely unsmoked, with a factory-original bowl coating to help ease in its first smokes. As with most Vauen pipes, it is chambered for 9mm filters, such as Vauen’s own or Savinelli’s balsa filters. It should also accommodate some variety of adapter for non-filter use, if the user prefers.
