Utor B-9 Bent Apple Sitter Estate Briar Pipe, 9mm [SOLD OUT]
Out of stock
Description
Utor pipes were produced in what was, at the time, West Germany, around the mid-20th century, before production stopped in 1970. The make’s namesake comes from a shortening of Uwe Thormann, the German artisan who carved them. While not as well known as other German brands and artisans, such as Vauen or Peter Klein, Utor pipes are nonetheless now considered to be something of a collector’s item.
This particular pipe from Uwe Thormann is a relatively traditional design, somewhere between a bent apple and an author. It’s a muscular pipe with some heft to it, but fits well in the hand – which the very light, partial sandblasting aids with tremendously.
While it has some (understandable) handling marks and some rim darkening, the pipe is in good shape. As with most German pipes, this one is drilled to accommodate 9mm filters, though it can also be smoked without.
