Torben Dansk Asa Sandblasted Rhodesian Estate Briar Pipe [SOLD OUT]

Description
Torben Dansk is something of a sleeper in the world of Danish pipes. Originally made by Denmark’s Torben Hetler, formerly a Stanwell pipe-maker, Torben Dansk offered Danish-style pipes that were nonetheless their own, achieving a fair amount of success during the country’s rise to prominence in the pipe world. Later, the pipes were made under the oversight of Lars Christensen (of Norup), then Poul Winslow (of Winslow), with the name appearing to be currently owned by Dan Pipe. Like Stanwell, Torben Dansk has also enlisted famous artisan pipe-makers to design some of its models, including Holger Frickert and Jess Chonowitsch.
This particular Torben Dansk is quite a unique shape, even for a pipe from Denmark. It has the forward cant of a cutty, the bowl shape of a Rhodesian or Bulldog, but also the bowl height of a stack. I’d say it works rather well, especially when paired with the very Danish stem it has.
The condition is excellent. There’s some minor tooth chatter, but this is only superficial. The finish is without wear, the rim is without charring – it’s all very nice indeed. Judging by the height of the bowl, I imagine this would make a great flake pipe.
