Description
While originally born in Italy, Thomas Cristiano emigrated to the United States at the age of 16, quickly finding work in the S.M. Frank factory in Long Island. S.M. Frank is a historic American pipe-making company, and at this time Cristiano worked on Frank-owned makes such as Kaywoodie. Later, Cristiano departed to make his own pipes under the Thomas Cristiano name.
Shaped in the vein of the French Maigret or even the Dunhill LB, or Large Billiard, designs, this Thomas Cristiano is certainly not lacking as far as grain goes. I have always wondered what happened to Cristiano and his venture, but it may well be a mystery that we never find conclusive answers to. In the meantime, there are at least remnants of his work in the estates scene, as this impressive, stout, flame grain billiard shows.
This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. There are a couple of small scratches on the bowl exterior, but nothing major.
