If you’re unfamiliar with Venturi pipes, of which this is one, allow me to introduce them. But, let me preface this by saying that everything I now about Venturi pipes, I learned from reading Dr Billie W. Taylor, who is the leading authority on these pipes. The most important thing to know about Venturi pipes is that they are not made from briar. Their first pipes, simply named “the pipe” (all lowercase) debuted in 1965, with Bakelite bowls and chambers lined with pyrolytic graphite. Pyrolytic graphite is incredibly heat resistant, and the design of the liners made from this material have the effect of reducing the amount of tar and nicotine released from tobacco combustion that would ordinarily make its way into the smoker’s mouth.

This particular example is completely unsmoked.
