Stefano Santambrogio Smooth Author Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates
Out of stock
Description
Stefano Santambrogio is one of only a handful of people in the world that can claim to be a third-generation pipe-maker. Like Nanna Ivarsson and Federico Becker, Santambrogio’s father and grandfather both made their living crafting pipes, with Santambrogio inheriting his workshop from his father, Renzo, just as Renzo inherited it (with his brother Armando) from his father, Stefano Sr.
Stefano Santambrogio’s pipes are more playful than most other Italian workshop makes. Like Denmark’s Peder Jeppesen, Santambrogio’s pipes are typically colorful, incorporating mixed finishes and accents in designs that are unique both in relation to other Italian pipes and in relation to other pipes from his own workshop. This one, for example, is a classic author shape, but one modernized by the use of twin accents of exotic wood and amber-toned acrylic, along with a horn-hued Lucite stem.
The condition is very good. Minor rim darkening and very slight handling marks.
