Stanwells Royal Danish 139 Bent Egg, Danish Estates [SOLD OUT]
Out of stock
Description
Royal Danish was a sub-brand of Denmark’s Stanwell company. Using the same shapes as the main Stanwell line, Royal Danish is now a great way for customers to get their hands on iconic Danish pipes that aren’t manufactured by Stanwell or by any of its sub-brands anymore.
The shape 139 is a sleek, bent egg or brandy originally designed by the legendary Jess Chonowitsch. Jess is the son of Emil Chonowitsch, a godfather of Danish pipe-making in his own right, and Jess soon followed in his fathers footsteps, surpassing him to become one of the most celebrated pipe-makers in the world. Along with other pipe-making masters such as Sixten Ivarsson, Tom Eltang, and Anne Julie, Jess Chonowitsch was a frequent collaborator with Stanwell, designing many of its most coveted shapes.
Light in weight and beautifully preserved, this Royal Danish is priced at a steal for customers looking for Danish-made pipes designed by one of Denmark’s most talented makers – especially given that, today, one of Jess’s own-name pipes will set a buyer back many thousands of dollars.
