Description
Stanwell is one of Denmark’s most celebrated and enduring pipe companies, having been founded by Poul Nielsen shortly after the second world war. Over the last six decades, Stanwell has established itself as both a leader in innovative Danish design and for producing well-priced pipes with precision construction and engineering. Many of its designs were created for the company by iconic pipe-makers in the Scandinavian scene, such as Sixten Ivarsson, Anne Julie, Jess Chonowitsch, and Tom Eltang.
The Royal Prince was one of Stanwell’s flagship lines for several decades, featuring the kind of simple, warm brown stain that dominated pipe design internationally over the course of the 20th century. This particular Royal Prince takes the form of another of Stanwell’s staple shapes, the “40” oval shank, saddle billiard. Finally, based on the stamping, this pipe will have been made in Stanwell’s Borup factory prior to 2010, back when Stanwell pipes were produced in Denmark.
The condition is very good. Some inner rim darkening and a few very small scratches on the bowl.
