Savinelli Oscar Aged Briar 115 KS Rusticated Pot Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates

Out of stock

Description

It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.

Savinelli still produces “Oscar” series pipes—or, at least, they produce pipes under the series name Oscar. This is not one of those pipes. Contemporary Oscar series (both the standard and its sister, the Oscar Tiger) are dark stained, rusticated and smooth pipes, with silvery trims and Lucite stems. But originally, the Oscar—whose full name was the Oscar Aged Briar—was a more modest design, combining seasoned briar with smooth or rusticated finishes and black vulcanite stems. This one is rendered in Savinelli’s classic 115 wide pot shape, a lightweight nod to the early briars of England and France.

The condition is very good. Minor finish fading and slightly weak stamping.
