Description
It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.
Not to be confused with the Ottagono, the Octavia was Savinelli’s original series of faceted pipes. Like the more recent Ottagono (Italian for “octagon”), the Octavia (Latin for “eight” series featured pipes with eight-sided bowls. This one is dressed in a simple, near-black dark brown stain and a light rustication, and complemented by a jet-black acrylic stem.
The condition is fair. There’s some darkening on the rim and some char on the top lip of the chamber, as well as some minor finish fading around the bowl. This Octavia comes with its original box. Like many Savinelli pipes, this one is chambered for 6mm filters as standard, but will smoke just as well without one.
