Savinelli Oceano 320 KS Smooth Author Estate Briar Pipe, 6mm, Italian Estates

It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.

As you may have guessed, Savinelli’s Oceano series features a marine blue and white stem, evocative of waves crashing across the surface of the open water. Its smooth variant, as seen here, pairs with this a light burgundy stain. This particular Oceano is Savinelli’s 320KS author shape, which may well be Savinelli’s most popular design. Owing to its wide bowl, it is the perfect pipe for mixtures, especially latakia blends, though I’ve found it smokes just about any tobacco well.

The condition is excellent. There’s some very minor finish fading on the inside lip of the rim, but the pipe has been well looked after by its consignor. The pipe is chambered for 6mm filters as standard, such as Savinelli’s own balsa filters, but will smoke just as well without one.
