It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously produced high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.

Savinelli’s Miele series a secret of sorts within its chamber. While the bowl walls on some pipes are coated with a carbon compound to help ease the break-in process, the Miele has been treated with a honey extract to create the same effect, but a little sweeter. This is part of the reason for the name of the series (miele is Italian for ‘honey’); the other part is the honeycomb-hued stem, honey dipper style tamper, and apian theme of the presentation box that the pipe comes with.

This Miele is completely unsmoked, having come to us. via our trade-in program, from a collector of high-grade Italian pipes. As with many Savinelli pipes, this one is chambered for 6mm filters as standard – such as Savinelli’s own balsa filters – but can be used without one if its next owner prefers.
