Savinelli Handmade Rusticated Bent Pot Estate Briar Pipe, 6mm [SOLD OUT]
Out of stock
Description
It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously produced high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.
Savinelli’s Hand Made line is a curious and rare one. From what I can tell, they’re products of more free-hand experimentation at the Savinelli workshop. Perhaps these were the precursors to the Autograph line? I’m not sure. But they’re great pipes in any case. This one is a stout, sturdy, quarter-bent pot, with thick walls and a tactile rustication. The stain is interesting too, being something of a contrast mixture of black and reddish brown. Like most Savinelli pipes, this one can fit 6mm filters, such as Savinelli’s balsa filters, but it can also be smoked without, depending on your preference.
The condition is great. I’m not sure if it has some minor rim darkening or if that’s just the stain, but if it is darkening, it’s superficial and minimal.
