Savinelli Dry System 2622 Smooth Bent Pot Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates
Out of stock
Description
It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.
While “system” pipes are most commonly associated with the Peterson System series, Savinelli has its own interpretation of that basic idea. Like Peterson’s System, Savinelli’s Dry System features a reservoir at the base of the shank that collects moisture and prevents gurgling. Judging by the four-digit shape code, this one looks to be a pre-1970 model.
The condition is good. I don’t note any significant issues with the pipe, but I’m fairly certain the stem is a replacement, as it does not feature a 6mm bore (normally used for balsa filters on Dry System models). I’ve adjusted the price to reflect this, though there’s nothing to stop it smoking well.
