Savinelli Alligator 904 KS Dublin Estate Briar Pipe, 6mm, Italian Estates

It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.

Savinelli’s Alligator series offers a distinct approach to pipe aesthetics, being essentially a mixed finish of smooth and rusticated sections that evoke the reptilian hide of its namesake. This particular Alligator is rendered in one of Savinelli’s most distinctive shapes, the 904 KS. Part Zulu, part yachtsman, part Dublin, and arguably part opera, it is a shape that has managed to maintain a place in Savinelli’s catalog for a long time—and deservedly so.

The condition is good. Some rim darkening. This pipe is chambered for 6mm filters, such as Savinelli’s own balsa filters, but will smoke just as well without one.
