Description
Along with names like Barling, Charatan, and Dunhill Sasieni holds a special place in the history of English smoking pipes – one near to its very beginnings. So the story goes, Sasieni himself worked for Dunhill during its early days. But eventually he left Dunhill, having his own ideas about how pipes should be made, and founded Sasieni. This was 1919, and Sasieni has been the closest thing to a household name in English pipes ever since.
While perspex stems are most commonly associated with the pipes of GBD, Sasieni also produced pipes using this material, though briefly, and in small numbers. This English-made Four Dot is just such a pipe. It’s a curious specimen, with a paneled, stack Dublin bowl and a warm blonde finish that pairs nicely with the translucent mouthpiece. Based on the stamping, this pipe will have been made between 1979 and 1986, in what has come to be known as the “transition era.”
The condition is very good. Minor, inner rim darkening and very slight handling marks.
