Sasieni 5Dot Sandblasted Freehand Estate Briar Pipe, English Estates

Out of stock

Description

Along with names like Barling, Charatan, and Dunhill Sasieni holds a special place in the history of English smoking pipes – one near to its very beginnings. So the story goes, Sasieni himself worked for Dunhill during its early days. But eventually he left Dunhill, having his own ideas about how pipes should be made, and founded Sasieni. This was 1919, and Sasieni has been the closest thing to a household name in English pipes ever since.

While Sasieni did produce a few “freehand” pipes in the mid-20th century, it was not until some time later that these pipes received their own designation: the “5Dot.” Playing off the historic association between Sasieni’s signature four dots and their finest pipes, the 5Dot series was one of large and often more unconventionally shaped offerings. This one strikes a balance between the freehand styles of English makes, such as Charatan, and Danish ones, such as Preben Holm, with a plateau rim, an exquisite deep, ring grain sandblast, and a silver collar to tie the design together.

The condition is great. Some inner rim darkening.
