Sasieni 4 Dot Ruff Root Dark, Sandblasted Prince Estate Briar Pipe, French Estates [SOLD OUT]
Out of stock
Description
Along with names like Barling, Charatan, and Dunhill Sasieni holds a special place in the history of English smoking pipes – one near to its very beginnings. So the story goes, Sasieni himself worked for Dunhill during its early days. But eventually he left Dunhill, having his own ideas about how pipes should be made, and founded Sasieni. This was 1919, and Sasieni has been the closest thing to a household name in English pipes ever since.
If you’re looking for an English-French classic (this Sasieni being from the company’s French production), this pipe will have you covered. While we’ve called it a prince in the listing, the more correct name for this shape is a banker. With something of a quarter-bent, squat apple appearance, the banker is a shape that was very popular in the early- to mid-20th century. Presumably, its wide bowl suited old timey financiers well while they sat doing sums with pencils and paper all day. Different times..
