Sashar by Sasieni, Rusticated Pot Estate Briar Pipe [SOLD OUT]
Out of stock
Description
Along with names like Barling, Charatan, and Dunhill Sasieni holds a special place in the history of English smoking pipes – one near to its very beginnings. So the story goes, Sasieni himself worked for Dunhill during its early days. But eventually he left Dunhill, having his own ideas about how pipes should be made, and founded Sasieni. This was 1919, and Sasieni has been the closest thing to a household name in English pipes ever since.
Sashar was one of the numerous sub-brands Sasieni sold pipes through. Sashar seems to have been a sub-brand specifically for rusticated pipes, presumably for pipes that did not make the exceedingly high standards needed for a Sasieni pipe to qualify for the Four Dot line. This one is a very traditional straight pot, in a simple, elegant black stain that matches its vulcanite stem. There is a small amount of rim darkening on the inner lip, but I see nothing else that warrants noting.
