Sashar by Sasieni Rusticated Apple Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked
Out of stock
Description
Along with names like Barling, Charatan, and Dunhill Sasieni holds a special place in the history of English smoking pipes – one near to its very beginnings. So the story goes, Sasieni himself worked for Dunhill during its early days. But eventually he left Dunhill, having his own ideas about how pipes should be made, and founded Sasieni. This was 1919, and Sasieni has been the closest thing to a household name in English pipes ever since.
Sasieni always had particularly exacting standards for its pipes, even within the highly competitive milieu of 20th century English pipes. So, when a bowl was found to have even the tiniest, superficial imperfection, it would be used for one of Sasieni’s many sub-brands. The Sashar was one such sub-brand, and it appears to have been one for what would otherwise have been a Sasieni bearing the make’s early Rustic finish.
This Sasieni is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. It also comes with its original box. The box has a little wear. Pretty cool piece of Sasieni history that would be a great addition to any collection.
