Description
Here’s a tricky one: a a Samson pipe, made in France. I’m not familiar with this make, but I do note that Pipedia has it associated with Kaufman Bros. & Bonday, otherwise known as KB&B, a connection also made byWilczak & Colwell in Who Made That Pipe? Beyond that, I don’t know, but I do know that it’s a lovely pipe. It’s a relatively large billiard, especially from what is presumably a 20th century make, with an understated black stain that nonetheless shows off a crisp, ring grain sandblast. It’s also got a deep chamber, a vulcanite stem, and is a reasonable weight for its size. Whoever made, it, I’m impressed.
It’s also completely unsmoked.
