Rossi Siesta 30125, Smooth Bent Billiard Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates [SOLD OUT]
Out of stock
Description
If you’re familiar with Rossi pipes, you’ll probably know them as a brand owned by Savinelli, typically offering affordable versions of Savinelli lines. The history of the Rossi brand, however, is one almost as long as Savinelli’s, and indeed the two were competitors for a long time. Rossi was formally established in 1886 (just ten years after Savinelli) and was a major, family-owned pipe manufacturer until closing in 1985, after which it was absorbed by Savinelli.
This particular pipe appears to have been made during the brand’s ownership by the Rossi family. I would estimate it to have been made during the 1970s, judging by the stamping. It’s a really nice pipe, with a design that is certainly very distinct from those of its competitors at the time, Savinelli and Brebbia. A bent billiard in the classical style, the pipe is distinguished by its black ferrule and flared stem, which is a really nice touch. The pipe also features excellent grain, emphasized by the quintessentially Italian light brown/blonde stain it wears. The pipe is also well preserved for its age.
