Peterson 2021 Christmas Pipe, Baker Street, Sandblasted Bulldog Estate Briar Pipe, Irish Estates [SOLD OUT]

Description
Peterson pipes generally need no introduction, but just in case you’re unfamiliar: in 1876, a Latvian named Charles Peterson immigrated to Ireland and was hired making pipes in a workshop owned by Frederick and George Kapp. After rising through the ranks to become head craftsman, Peterson bought into the Kapp’s business, which was renamed, Kapp & Peterson (K&P). During this time, Peterson himself applied for several patents for pipe designs, including the world-famous Peterson’s System. Since then, Peterson has become one of the most recognizable names in pipe smoking and continues to produce high quality pipes from their headquarters in Dublin.
Since 2009, Peterson has, alongside their Pipe of the Year (and later their Halloween Pipe), released an annual pipe to celebrate the Christmas Season. The 2021 Christmas release was one of my personal favorites in a very long time, as it combined shapes from the Sherlock Holmes series with a dark brown (for smooth and rusticated pipes) or black finish (for sandblasts), and an engraved copper collar. The copper, for me, was what sold it; it’s an interesting departure from Peterson’s usual nickel or silver adornments, and it pairs wonderfully with the finishes for the line. This is one of the sandblasted iterations, based on the Baker Street bulldog shape, and what a blast it is! Had it been a standard release pipe, this could have qualified for a PSB (‘Peterson Special Blast’) designation.
The condition is excellent. There’s some very minor tooth chatter on the pipe’s stem, but otherwise it is more or less mint. It even comes with its original box and sleeve, courtesy of the previous owner, who sold us the pipe as part of our estates trade-in program.
