Description
Peterson pipes generally need no introduction, but just in case you’re unfamiliar: in 1876, a Latvian named Charles Peterson immigrated to Ireland and was hired making pipes in a workshop owned by Frederick and George Kapp. After rising through the ranks to become head craftsman, Peterson bought into the Kapp’s business, which was renamed, Kapp & Peterson (K&P). During this time, Peterson himself applied for several patents for pipe designs, including the world-famous Peterson’s System. Since then, Peterson has become one of the most recognizable names in pipe smoking and continues to produce high quality pipes from their headquarters in Dublin.
If you’re looking for high-end pipes in the traditional, Anglo-French mold, it’s difficult to go wrong with a Peterson. While Peterson offers plenty of pipes at a more affordable price point, there are some models that are far more exclusive—not only in price, but in availability, too. This is an example of one of those pipes. Not only does it wear Peterson’s Smooth Natural finish, a light stain reserved for only the most perfect stummels available, but it also features two sterling silver mounts: one collaring the shank, and another capping the bowl. The result is a pipe with brilliant bird’s-eye patterns, accentuated both by its warm, blonde finish and the gleam of its silver ornamentation.
This Peterson is also completely unsmoked and comes with its original box and sleeve.
