Peterson 03S Gold Spigot Bent Apple Estate Briar Pipe, Irish Estates
Out of stock
Description
Peterson pipes generally need no introduction, but just in case you’re unfamiliar: in 1876, a Latvian named Charles Peterson immigrated to Ireland and was hired making pipes in a workshop owned by Frederick and George Kapp. After rising through the ranks to become head craftsman, Peterson bought into the Kapp’s business, which was renamed, Kapp & Peterson (K&P). During this time, Peterson himself applied for several patents for pipe designs, including the world-famous Peterson’s System. Since then, Peterson has become one of the most recognizable names in pipe smoking and continues to produce high quality pipes from their headquarters in Dublin.
Of all of the high-grade series that Peterson offers, there are few (if any) that surpass the lofty status of the Gold Spigot. These pipes are not only fitted with 9 karat gold spigot mounts, as the name implies, they are also exclusively crafted from the best briar Peterson possesses. This means that, like this one, the pipes typically showcase flawless grain – in this case, “angel hair” straight grain, which is left to speak for itself by a natural, light stain – complemented and elevated even further by gold finery.
The condition is excellent. Some very light inner rim darkening. I’d say pre-smoked, but not much. The pipe also comes with its original box and sleeve.
