1946 Dunhill Root Briar 127, Chubby Straight Billiard Briar Pipe, English Estates, Patent Era [SOLD OUT]
Out of stock
Description
To veteran pipe smokers, Dunhill needs no introduction. Beginning in 1907, Alfred Dunhill began selling Dunhill pipes at the tobacconist shop he owned on London’s Duke Street. Very quickly, these pipes gained the reputation of being the ‘Rolls-Royce’ of pipes due to how expertly crafted they were. Today, Dunhill is likely Britain’s most famous pipe manufacturer, and continues to produce some of the most treasured pipes a smoker can buy.
This is the second patent era Dunhill we’ve had in this week, this one being made all the way back in 1946. While the other pipe was a quite dainty prince, this one is a muscular billiard – perhaps even ‘chubby’ in today’s pipe language. Still, it’s not a heavy pipe.
Naturally, patent era Dunhills are coveted by collectors and by those who simply want a classic, well made smoking machine. This one is in remarkable condition for its age, and will likely provide a faithful companion for generations to come.
The stamping on the pipe is faint in parts, but reads as follows:
