Description
Orlik was an English pipe manufacturer founded in 1899 by Louis Orlik. While originally the company’s mission was to produce low-cost pipes, the make would ultimately be known for the distinctly high quality of their products. Consequently, Orlik pipes are today a favorite among pipe smokers and collectors, especially those who prefer the hobby’s Great British classics.
I’ve a feeling that this is a very old Orlik. It’s certainly pre-Cadogan, as it has the brass “O” stem inlay and, despite being quite faded, the country of manufacture stamp is not the one Cadogan used for its various consolidated makes after 1980. As for the design, it’s a classic Lovat in very traditional, short, lightweight proportions, almost verging on nosewarmer length. It’ll certainly clench well, without sacrificing chamber capacity.
The condition is fair. Rim darkening, finish fading, slight tooth chatter, and faded stamping.
