Description
Orlik was an English pipe manufacturer founded in 1899 by Louis Orlik. While originally the company’s mission was to produce low-cost pipes, the make would ultimately be known for the distinctly high quality of their products. Consequently, Orlik pipes are today a favorite among pipe smokers and collectors, especially those who prefer the hobby’s Great British classics.
What an interesting coincidence: I listed what seemed to be a very old, pre-Cadogan Orlik about a week ago, which was one of the shortest Orliks I’ve had a chance to handle; today, this also seemingly very old, pre-Cadogan Orlik lands on my desk, and is instead the longest I’ve yet held. It’s a nicely craggy, sandblasted Canadian, with plenty of ring grain and a nice, maroon stain.
The condition is fair. Rim darkening and some rim charring, general finish fading, and what looks to me to be a replacement stem. I’ve priced the pipe to reflect this latter hunch.
