Description
Orlik was an English pipe manufacturer founded in 1899 by Louis Orlik. While originally the company’s mission was to produce low-cost pipes, the make would ultimately be known for the distinctly high quality of their products. Consequently, Orlik pipes are today a favorite among pipe smokers and collectors, especially those who prefer the hobby’s Great British classics.
Orlik pipes, in particular Orlik pipes from before the make’s merger with Cadogan Investments, are particularly attractive to collectors. They’re typically simple in design, but they’re well made and they’re excellent smokers. This Orlik happens to be one of those pipes, as evinced by the nomenclature and, most importantly, by the inlaid brass ‘O’ on its vulcanite stem. It is a stack billiard, also known as a chimney, with bowl that should smoke flake pipes especially well.
The condition is very good. The button is slightly overbuffed, there are one or two natural imperfections in the briar, and there is a small nick on the outer left edge of the rim. The price has been adjusted accordingly, but it is nonetheless otherwise excellently preserved.
