Description
Nørding was founded by Erik Nørding in the 1960s, and is one of the oldest remaining companies to come out of the Scandinavian pipe-making renaissance that began in the mid-20th century. Now in his 80s, Erik Nørding is one of the most experienced and skilled pipe-makers in the world, and over the decades he has also been a teacher of other Danish masters, such as Poul Ilsted, Svend Axel Celius, Jens Tao Nielsen, Peder Jeppesen, and Søren Erik Andersen.
While most Nørding pipes are now made in the company workshop by its talented craftsmen, Hand Made Nørding pipes are all unique and carved solely by Erik himself – from selecting the right briar, to shaping the bowl, to hand-cutting the stem. Nørding’s Hand Made pipes represent the pinnacle of what this legendary Danish institution has to offer.
This grade 15 Hand Made is a perfect example of the high grade pipes Erik Nørding makes. A large, bent Dublin in the Danish style, it features sweeping flame grain all around the bowl and bird’s eye grain on its rim. Its large chamber is suited for a long, relaxed smoke, and the bowl’s thick walls will ensure that it remains comfortably cool in the hand.
