Nathan Armentrout Sandblasted Straight Billiard Briar Pipe, New [SOLD OUT]

Description
Originally a science teacher in California, Nathan Armentrout began making pipes in 2009 and has since emerged as one of North America’s most talented, high-grade artisan pipe-makers. Inspired by Denmark’s legendary carvers, Nathan’s designs continue the legacy of the Danish pipe-making movement into the present day and expand that legacy through his own unique interpretations of the masters of old.
Ah, the Danish billiard. Pioneered by makers such as Jess Chonowitsch and carried into the 21st century by American artisans such as Adam Davidson, Jeff Gracik (J. Alan), and indeed, Nathan Armentrout. I love this shape; compact yet muscular, classic yet distinctly modern. This one is a little like an updated Dunhill Tanshell, or Ashton Old Church. It has nice, crisp sandblasting and a very light, natural stain – the kind that only works if the briar is flawless (Armentrout is very picky about the standard of briar he uses).
It also has a hand cut, dark red cumberland stem and a shank ring made of exotic Indian Rosewood. The pipe is a mere 31 grams in weight – another sign of good quality briar – meaning it will clench easily and is perfect for carrying around for smokes on the go. Lastly, the chamber has been drilled to be as capacious as is possible without compromising the stability of the pipe’s walls. It will smoke English ribbons like a dream, or provide a wonderfully long, relaxing smoke if filled with your favorite virginia or burley flake.
