Nathan Armentrout Sandblasted Danish Apple Handmade Briar Pipe, New [SOLD OUT]
Out of stock
Description
Originally a science teacher in California, Nathan Armentrout began making pipes in 2009 and has since emerged as one of North America’s most talented, high-grade artisan pipe-makers. Inspired by Denmark’s legendary carvers, Nathan’s designs continue the legacy of the Danish pipe-making movement into the present day and expand that legacy through his own unique interpretations of the masters of old.
I can’t express how pleased I was when it was agreed that MBSD would stock Armentrout pipes. I’ve watched Nathan’s career for over a decade, so it was a dream even just to interact with one of the living greats of Danish-American artisan pipe-making. This Armentrout is of the Neo-Danish style that we’ve come to expect from Nathan; a quarter-bent apple, with design influences seemingly from Lars Ivarsson and his daughter Nanna, as well as Todd Johnson. Crisply sandblasted in a burgundy stain, both the rim and the shank end have been left smooth, with the latter housing a brass ring to strengthen the mortise. The stem is high grade black ebonite.
