Michel Smooth Canadian Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked
Out of stock
Description
Michel pipes were store-brand pipes made for Maison Michel, a North Carolina (USA) tobacconist run by Michel J. Mitchell between 1951 and 1980. Over the years, several prominent pipe-makers made pipes for Maison Michel, such as Charatan, Barling, and others.
As ever, I have to say, Michel Mitchell sure knew how to pick ’em. This classic, saddle billiard is comparable to something like a GBD Virgin—great briar, a light, natural stain, as well as a lightness that should make it an easy clencher for just about anyone. If I’d lived in North Carolina fifty or sixty years ago, I know exactly which brick & mortar would be my go-to.
This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating.
