Michel Selected Smooth Author Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked
Out of stock
Description
Michel pipes were store-brand pipes made for Maison Michel, a North Carolina (USA) tobacconist run by Michel J. Mitchell between 1951 and 1980. Over the years, several prominent pipe-makers made pipes for Maison Michel, such as Charatan, Barling, and others.
It seems as though these “Selected” Michel pipes were a step up from the standard line, as evinced both by the connotations of the name, and by the lovely briar patterns they exhibit. This one is oriented more toward bird’s-eye and cross grain, taking the form of a classic author shape.
This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. I do note what appears to be a very small stain on the right side of the shank, though nothing major.
