Description

The MBSD Meerschaum Silver is our new series of silver mounted meerschaum pipes. Using the same high-grade, fast-coloring Turkish meerschaum found on our Deluxe series, these pipes exclusively feature silver army mounts or spigot mounts.

While many of our meerschaum pipes are inspired by briar pipes, this one was inspired by, well, meerschaum pipes. Not modern meerschaum pipes, but antique meerschaums, such as the 19th century Kalmasch variety. The Kalmasch, of course, was a much larger type of pipe, typically with a long, cherrywood stem and a silver cap. The idea with this one was to compress that figure into something more manageable for the everyday smoker, while maintaining its stout, tall, angular profile and “capped” appearance (hence my simply calling it a “Rhodesian”). Thanks to this added stoutness, the design was a perfect candidate to include a reverse calabash system in the shank, ensuring a cool, dry smoke, just like the Kalmasch provided.
