MBSD Meerschaum Silver Reverse Calabash Peewit Block Meerschaum Pipe

After the success of our MBSD Deluxe meerschaum pipes, which feature a patented Briar-Mortise system for extra durability, we’ve been developing additional series to offer an even greater range of meers for our customers. One of these series is the Deluxe Silver, which features a mortise strengthened both by briar on the interior, and sterling silver on the exterior. These pipes might be thought of as army mount or spigot mount pipes (depending on the design), with even more of a guarantee to their longevity. Better still, these pipes are made from the same high-grade, fast-coloring meerschaum as our Deluxe and Silver series.

As we’ve explored with many other of our meerschaums, the Peewit is typically found in briar pipes, especially in the work of artisan carvers. It is a shape that helped inaugurate the new Danish style in postwar pipe-making, thanks to the designs of Sixten Ivarsson and those he inspired. Though it is sometimes referred to as a strawberry or an acorn, but it was christened the “Peewit” by Ivarsson due to its distinctly avian side profile. This one draws on the later, stubbier Peewit renditions of figures such as Tom Eltang and Sixten’s granddaughter Nanna Ivarsson, while also adapting the shape to incorporate a cool-smoking, reverse calabash system.
