MBSD Meerschaum Masters is our line for special, typically figural, meerschaum pipes carved by some of today’s greatest living meerschaum carvers. For this pipe, we enlisted the services of Turkish master Kenan.

Animals have served as popular motifs in meerschaum carving for centuries. Furthermore, there is a group of animals that have been strongly represented in these carvings, with this group having one particular thing in common: hunting. Likely due to the connection between early meerschaum pipes and the moneyed and aristocratic classes that were able to afford them, animals that were hunted, as well as animals that aided in the hunt, feature prominently in the history of meerschaum pipes. This pipe, modeled after the English Springer Spaniel—a breed commonly used for tracking, flushing, and retrieving game—continues that rich tradition, with a suitably masterful execution.
