Mastro Geppetto pipes are made by the Italian workshop brand Ser Jacopo. One could call them Ser Jacopo’s series of ‘affordable’ pipes, and while this would be correct purely from the standpoint of price, it wouldn’t be entirely fair to them in other regards. Geppetto pipes are hand made from the same high-grade briar as Ser Jacopo pipes, but the former do not use the plateau cuts that the latter does, which are more expensive; Geppetto pipes also tend to be simpler shapes, meaning they do not require the use of the highly-technical flexible drilling machinery that Ser Jacopo’s wilder shapes do.

This particular Mastro Geppetto blends elements of the traditional poker with the barrel shapes seen from makes such as Peterson. It’s a compact, portable, lightweight and easy going smoker that adds just enough Italian charm to the design – including through the additional of a silver trim and briar stem inlay – to keep things interesting.

The condition is great. There’s some minor rim darkening and one or two nicks on the underside of the stem’s briar inlay, but nothing major. The pipe is chambered for 9mm filters as standard but should accommodate some variety of adapter if the next owner prefers going filterless.
