Mario Grandi Magnum Sandblasted Dublin Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates
Out of stock
Description
Mario Grandi pipes are made by Italy’s Pierluigi family, headed by Aldo Pierluigi, an artisan pipe-maker since the 1970s. The Pierluigi family are also responsible for the Pierluigi make, as well as Mastro Beraldi.
We’ve had just a couple of Mario Grandi pipes come through in the last few years, but they’ve all been nice, good-quality Italian pipes, with a little bit of the kind of flair you find in the nation’s workshops. This one blows those ones out of the water, though. Not only is it absolutely huge, with a chamber that could just about fit a whole tin inside, but it’s also brimming with ornamentation, to an extent I’ve only ever seen elsewhere on Ardor pipes. Combining an impressive, ring grain sandblast on its broad bowl with a smooth polished shank, along with an amber-like ferrule and bamboo stem inlay, this pipe really was someone’s labor of love. I imagine the next owner will love it, too.
The condition is great. Aside from some minor tooth chatter, it could almost pass for unsmoked.
