Description
I have here in my copy of Who Made That Pipe? by Wilczak and Colwell that “Lumberman Special” was a make made by Comoy’s and/or Savinelli. So, which one is this? The rustication seems Italian, but is far more linear than Savinelli’s old Capri series of finishes. The shape also doesn’t fit with Savinelli’s post-1970 803 lumberman shape, nor with their older lumbermans (lumbermen?), such as the 8003. On the other hand, Comoy’s did market pipes explicitly as “Lumberman” in the early to mid-20th century with the caveat being that most of us today would call those pipes Canadians. Regardless, I think I’m going to have to go with Comoy’s on this one. Please do correct me if I’m wrong, though.
The condition is good. Darkening and some finish fading on the rim, and slight handling marks.
