Limited Edition Castello Aristocratica with Two Stems, Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates [SOLD OUT]
Out of stock
Description
Founded in 1947 by Carlo Scotti, Castello quickly became known for producing some of the finest smoking pipes in the world. Over the years, the people involved in making Castello pipes has changed – such as Luigi Radice and Sergio Ascorti, who developed their skills in the Cantu workshop before leaving to start Caminetto, or the handing of the reigns of the company to Francisco ‘Kino’ Coppo after Scotti’s passing – but the superlative quality of Castello pipes has not. It is not without reason that Castello is known as ‘the Italian Dunhill.’
Along with the Le Dune, the Aristocratica line is at the very top end of Castello’s output. While the Le Dune is rusticated, however, the Aristocratica is a smooth polished, with tight, vertical straight grain and a fiery, fumed stain. To call this a high grade pipe would be an understatement. This Aristocratica is a classic military mount billiard, a renowned standard in Castello’s shape catalog, but it also happens to be one of a very limited run of pipes that Castello produced with two stems – one in lucite, the other in the exotic hardwood amaranth.
The condition of the pipe is near-mint. I don’t see any issues that need highlighting, but I invite buyers to consider the photos themselves to see for themselves before purchasing.
