Description

Kaywoodie pipes are as American as apple pie. Starting in 1919 as a pipe brand for KB&B, a pipe shop dating all the way back to 1851, Kaywoodie has since then been a staple of American-made pipes. In the present, many Kaywoodies are collectors’ items, in addition to being fantastic smokers.

The Super Grain was a mainstay in Kaywoodie’s catalog from the early 1930s right until the end of the end of the make’s “American years,” though if my sources are correct, this particular Super Grain will have been manufactured in the late 1940s. The “37C” shape was, at that time, a squat Rhodesian. It’s not a shape I’ve seen very often, and has a nice, French feel to it, especially given its compact figure. As the pipe is from the aforementioned period, it has the renowned four-hole Drinkless stinger that Kaywoodie collectors in particular favor.

The condition is very good. Some darkening and wear to the rim, and minor handling marks.
