Kaywoodie Super Grain 011, Smooth Billiard Briar Pipe, American Estates [SOLD OUT]

Description
Kaywoodie pipes are as American as apple pie. Starting in 1919 as a pipe brand for KB&B, a pipe shop dating all the way back to 1851, Kaywoodie has since then been a staple of American-made pipes. In the present, many Kaywoodies are collectors’ items, in addition to being fantastic smokers.
This Kaywoodie is absolutely delightful! And it’s a little different to others. For one, this Kaywoodie has a push stem – from the translucency I have to wonder if it is perhaps perspex – rather than a screw tenon as is more commonly seen. The stem is also fitted into an army mount, which adds another nice bit of flair to the whole design. The stain of the bowl is a lot lighter than standard Kaywoodies too, given that it is there simply to emphasize the beautiful grain of the stummel. Thanks to our industry connections, we’ve been able to discover that this particular Kaywoodie was made during the early 1960s.
It’s a medium to medium-long pipe, but it isn’t heavy. This one should clench quite comfortably. It’s also in fantastic condition; the finish on the rim is ever so slightly faded due to cleaning, but it isn’t especially noticeable. It’s a gorgeous, well preserved pipe, especially for one of its age. I was pretty close to keeping it for myself, actually.
