Kaywoodie Handmade “Paul Bunyan” Wide Pot Estate Briar Pipe, 4Hole Stinger, American Estates

Description
Kaywoodie pipes are as American as apple pie. Starting in 1919 as a pipe brand for KB&B, a pipe shop dating all the way back to 1851, Kaywoodie has since then been a staple of American-made pipes. In the present, many Kaywoodies are collectors items, in addition to being fantastic smokers.
If my dating is correct, this particular Kaywoodie is from their Oversized line, produced in 1947. In fact, it’s not just a Kaywoodie Handmade, but also a very rare example of a Handmade in a fully smooth finish, rather than a partially rusticated one (emulating the Custom-Bilt style). Going by the 1947 catalog, this distinctly wide and strong-jawed pot had a name as well as a shape number: the Paul Bunyan, or S25. As I said, as American as apple pie.
If my dating is correct, the pipe is in remarkable shape for being over 75 years old, and even if it isn’t, it looks great. There’s a few scratches and some fading to the finish on the rim, as well as a rough patch on the inner lip that looks to have been caused by a careless slip of the reamer, but the pipe has nevertheless held up extraordinarily. On a last note, this Kaywoodie has the make’s famed Drinkless four-hole stinger.
