Kaywoodie Connoisseur 08 Smooth Dublin Estate Briar Pipe, 4-Hole Stinger, American Estates

Description
Kaywoodie pipes are as American as apple pie. Starting in 1919 as a pipe brand for KB&B, a pipe shop dating all the way back to 1851, Kaywoodie has since then been a staple of American-made pipes. In the present, many Kaywoodies are collectors’ items, in addition to being fantastic smokers.
This particular Kaywoodie is an example of the make’s Connoisseur grade, which was consistently one of the highest-grades Kaywoodie offered between 1936 and 1972. This one clearly shows why: the pipe is covered in tight-knit bird’s-eye patterns, so much so that I have to wonder whether this is a mid-century Connoisseur, as later on, Kaywoodie introduced a separate grade for “Birdseye” pipes.
The condition is great. There’s some inner rim darkening and a little finish fading on the rim, but the pipe is nonetheless remarkably well preserved.
